Women On The Path: Choose your words carefully written by Jeannette Collins

As a Christian, you have an awesome responsibility with regard to the words you speak. The Bible tells us that words are containers for power- either creative or destructive. You can tear down or build up the people around you by what you say.

There is an abundance of discouragement coming from the world, but you have the great privilege of bringing encouragement to others by being positive in a negative world. It can be difficult however, so I encourage you to ask God to help you choose the words that will bring positive changes in the lives of others…. and in your own life too.

As I mentioned earlier, it is difficult bringing encouragement to others when so many difficult and negative situations are occurring in our world today. Many people are losing their homes, jobs and most certainly these problems affect the family and personal relationships. When will it ever end? When will things get back in order and when will I have more money than month? I myself, asked the Lord this very question today. You see I also lost my job, yet I thank God that I am now gainfully employed. However, my income has decreased dramatically, and I am finding myself at times feeling depressed and downright wore out.

Yet when I read the word of God; it tells me that trials and tribulations will come yet I am to be of good cheer, for Jesus has overcome the world. The word also tells me that I should not worry about what I shall wear or eat for God cares for me and he knows of what I have need of. These words are words of encouragement for me in my times of worry…

So speak the word over your life and the lives of others. Many may say that we are not being realistic in believing that God’s word has power even though the bible tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Many do not know that the world and everything in it was first seen and then spoken. By God first and that command was passed on to us.

So the next time your struggles, battles, and worries come to attack you. Ask yourself ‘WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT THIS? THEN SPEAK THE WORD.

Let no foul and polluting language, nor evil word unwholesome or otherwise talk {ever} come out of your mouth, but only {speech} as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace{ God’s Favor} to those who hear it. Ephesians 4:29
